I do most of my work in Virtual PC images and this really pushes my laptop (Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi Core Duo 2Gb RAM). My main problem is memory as even before I start with all the services and the utilities installed by Acer almost 600Mb is used leaving not quite enough for some VPC images
So I went to Crucial yesterday and ordered a 4Gb upgrade which required me to remove my two existing SODIMMS and insert the new ones. A simple enough job except the Acer hung when started.
Hunted around for an explanation on the web and came across the suggestion to upgrade the BIOS which I did and now the laptop boots but only recognises 3Gb in the BIOS and in XP.
