Creating a trial of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform environments has always been complicated and subject to constant changes in the process and the Microsoft 365 user interface. I have documented the steps to create trials and you can download them from my OneDrive at https://tinyurl.com/trydyn.
There is now a new and easier way to create a trial environment in the Power Platform admin centre (https://aka.ms/ppac).
The new environment pane has a new option, Trial (Subscription-based).
The Trial (Subscription-based) option allows you to enable Dynamics 365 apps and choose what you want to trial.
There are other benefits as well – you can now create three trial environments not just one.
Note: You cannot create trials of Dynamics 365 Marketing in this way. If you want to start a trial for the Marketing app the follow the instructions at https://docs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/marketing/trial-signup

Hi Julian,
I have heard that creating too many trial environments can land you in “trial jail” where your creation of trials is revoked for a period of time. Because of this I have created my trial environments using trials.dynamics and set the period for 90 days. It does not appear that you can select the trial length through the admin center.
Is there a way that I am not seeing to extend the length of the trial or do you know if we are allowed to create more trial environments? This way is easier but I would hate to be creating an environment each month and then finding out after month 7 I cannot create any more.
Your thoughts and guidance are greatly appreciated.
Scott
I have heard people’s IP addresses and mobile phone numbers being blocked for trials but it has never happened to me.
Trials are normally for 30 days and to see how to extend them watch https://youtu.be/lfGtjcxeKj4. However, I have tried this recently and was only extended to 90 days.
